Tanka by Pat Kopanda

Flowering Dogwood
brighten a dreary hillside
glow stunning white
lift petals heavenward
in graceful supplication
Flowering Dogwood
first tree to bloom in springtime
to open every eye
while other trees still dormant
God's gift, All's right with the world

  1. Your sharing of Pat’s work for open link night is intriguing. Love Pat’s poetics, but I missed the connection (if you ever explained it); smile.

  2. Truly the blooms of spring signal the rebirth and warmth rescuing from wintry grip. Truly showing balance, and all right with the world. Love the “graceful supplication.” Tell Pat that these are gorgeous! Thanks y’all.
