From the Edge of the Prairie

Our new anthology for 2018 will be ready this fall. The final editing is in progress now.

The Prairie Writers Guild will publish a book of poetry, short stories and essays by area writers in 2019 as well.

We ask you to become a part of this cooperative, creative project and also to encourage area writers you know to consider being a part of it as well.

The overall theme of this annual is to convey a sense of place, specifically northwestern Indiana. Secondary themes are added each year as inspiration. The secondary theme for 2019 will be Change. Feel free to explore the theme and make it your own. Please note that if the theme is too constrictive, any work of quality will be considered.

Details about how to participate next year will be posted here later this fall.

  1. Hello:

Are you interested in contributions from writers who do not live in Rensselaer? My father was born and raised in Rensselaer, my great-grandparents settled on a farm outside of town in 1912. I spent summer weeks in Rensselaer growing up and my father worked for the Republican.

I am a freelance writer living in Illinois but I would be quite interested in an opportunity to contribute. My main interest is in history.

Please let me know if you have an interest.

    Thank you,
    Lisa (Barber) Gavin
